web design

something I love doing

something the world needs

something I can be paid for

something I'm good at

I spent my entire 20's being obsessed with finding my so-called purpose. At times, itfelt like a real crisis (classic case of Saturn's return).

Because I don't see the title of web designer as a firm qualifier for my identity, I put less pressure on myself. I really, trully just woke up one day and realized that, among the million other careers I would love to have, web design was just as enough as any other. I believe because I am not so attached to what this might mean about me, it makes me a more compassionate, genuine and grounded human being to professionally collaborate with. Does this mean I don't take my work seriously? On the contrary! It only means I don't intend to let my career, success, (or lack of success) ever get in the way of my humanness, because this, in my eyes, is a much more important qualifier for my being than any career I could ever pick for myself.

Switching 'what' for 'something' in the original Ikigai model allowed my brain to accept that among the million different business ventures I could possibly pick, web design was just as right enough as any other.

Obviously, I know there are more pieces to the OG Ikigai. In my case, the inner parts made me dizzy with anxiety, so I made my own by choosing to leave these parts out. What I realized in the process is that my humaness will always be a more important definer than any career I'll ever pick. My 'purpose' doesn't have much to do with what I choose to do in exchange for money. It has to do with how beautiful a human being I can be.

 So, you know your work

but does your website truly reflect that?

changes lives.

If you’re a healer, coach, guide, or creative in the transformative arts, you know your work is deeply personal. Maybe you're a psychedelic guide, a death doula, or a grief ritualist. Whatever it is you do—it doesn’t fit into neat little boxes, and neither should your website.

Working with designers and marketing advisers who don't understand the heart of your work can be frustrating. When your work defies mainstream labels, you need people who get the depth behind what you do.
